Asus Zenfone Max ZC550KL Specs, Price and Impression

Asus – Which is Not so new player in the market has been doing good in India from the time they were launched. In their few years of presence here they have already understood the customers to an extent that they are making phones which are customized to Indian Market. Asus sent me this black box with a cute digital lock on it but I couldn’t unlock it immediately as I wouldn’t get the lock code until 23rd May. They launched the phone on 23rd may which I streamed online and at the end of the video I got my code. I unlocked the box to see the advanced version of Asus Zenfone Max whose features had already impressed me in the launch video which featured Sonakshi Sinha as their brand ambassador.

Lets talk about the best and main feature first which is the Battery Life, Asus Zenfone Max has 5000mah battery which lasts for at most 3days depending on the usage and has got a standby battery life upto 30 days. This is what I was talking about, customizing to Indian customers who love phones which can last longer. Asus shipped the phones keeping it in standby mode and when I opened it, it still had 2% battery life which is so cool assuming phone was at least on for minimum 10 days. I did a un boxing video and the phone charge was still 2% at the end of filming too, however the video is of bad quality hence I didn’t post it. I charged the phone completely on the first day and its been three days I haven’t charged it again, and my usage of limited. If you use it on 3g/WiFi then would last upto 48 hours. The Power Saver mode helps users manage and extend the battery life even more. So I’m very much impressed with the battery life and the phone stands on its statement #LiveUnplugged

Asus Zenfone Max comes in black, white, blue, orange colours and I received the orange one which is bright and pretty. Even with a dull outfit, this pop of colour makes a style statement and the phone has curvy back made of faux leather which looks classy and is of 5.2mm thickness. It comes with gorilla glass 4 in front which makes it strong and resistant to scratches. Phone weighs slightly heavy, this might be because of the battery it has and I shall not complain about it.

It has got 5.5 inch display with ASUS TruVivid technology which provides superior clarity, brightness and touch responsiveness. The Bluelight Filter for Eye Care protects the user’s eyes from strain during prolonged usage, this is an amazing feature for people like us whose eyes are always on phone screen. Volume keys and the lock/switch on button both are on right side of the phone and it has 3.5mm jack on the top and charging port at the bottom. Phone is delivered with the latest android version 6.0.1 which is also called as Marshmallow enabling user to utilise all the latest features of the android.

Phone comes along with accessories like USB cable, charger head and a OTG cable. OTG cable’s one end can be connected to phone and the other end has a USB port where you can plug in any other phone’s USB to transfer the charge. Isn’t it cool to use your phone as power bank as well. This phone makes everyday life simpler.

Let’s talk about camera, the most important feature I look in any phone. Even though this phone is made to give best battery life it also has pretty good camera with amazing modes of capturing. Rear Camera with 13 mp f/2.0 aperture reproduces the colours pretty well and clicks good clarity pictures. It also features Laser Auto Focus technology that helps photography enthusiasts focus on an object in as fast as 0.03 seconds. I love the super resolution mode in the camera which produces a natural looking photo with brilliant clarity. It has other modes like HDR, Panaroma, selfie, effects to name a few. However pictures get grainy indoors with less light.

Front camera is of 5 mega pixel and does a decent job in good lighting. It also has beautification mode which enables a good edit of the picture instantly. Camera app has other options like recording video in full HD and burst mode.

Phone comes with some in built apps like FM radi0, mini movie maker which are quite useful. Coming to Performance, phone comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor with 2gb RAM which is very good for everyday normal use but if you are a heavy gamer, this is not for you. It can’t withstand heavy apps as it has 2gb RAM and less CPU. Phone audio is good but not very impressive.

Final Verdict:

If you can overlook this minor cons then for sub 10,000 phone it hosts some amazing features and I have loved using it till now. You can defintely get one. Hope you liked my review, Don’t forget to Share it.
