Maybelline Baby Lips Electro Pop ‘Pink Shock and Berry Bomb’ – Review

By  |  2 Comments

I have been a fan of Maybelline Baby lips since they were launched here in India. So when I heard that Maybelline is introducing its electro pop range — I couldn’t have been happier! I chose Pink Shock and Berry Bomb among all the other colors being offered. Along time, I am sure I will try other shades as well, but right now, here is the review of the colors I did try!

Maybelline Baby Lips

Product Claims:

  • Moisturising benefits of baby lips with added pop of electric colour
  • 8 hours of moisture and hydration
  • Makes your lips soft, supple and smooth

My Take on the Product:

Maybelline Baby Lips1

Maybelline Baby Lips Electro Pop Pink Shock

Maybelline baby lips electro pop moisturizes the lips in one application and is very smooth in texture. It gives a sheer colour on first application and is build able to achieve a shade like a lip gloss. It is light weight and glides softly over the lips. They keep my lips soft and hydrated but does not heal. The moisture lasts on my lips close to 3 hours. It doesn’t last for 8 hours as it claims but the lips stay smoother for about 5 hours. It can be used under a lipstick as base coat.

Pink Shock:

The pigmentation of this product is higher than the Berry bomb and I love it for that. It has a fruity scent before and after application but does not last longer. The finish of the lip balm is shiny and looks more like a lip gloss, although, the pigmentation is not as high as a lip gloss but it does add that pop color to the lips. The color lasts for around 3-4 hours but easily passes off to glass/tumbler while drinking. This pink colour suits almost all skin tones

Berry Bomb:

This is a wee bit disappointing for me, as I don’t see it leaving the neon shade on to my lips. The shade is pinkish purple which is very subtle after 3-4 applications also. I felt it would suit the bright skin tone better. It has a fruity scent with berry flavor, which is quite nice. Again it doesn’t last throughout as the description on the lip balm says.

Packaging:

The product is packaged in black base with bright lip balm colored texts on the transparent tube. The cap is transparent hence you can see the shade of the lip balm. It is a twist up tube but the lip colour pops out a little. I had a problem with it as every time I try to close it, the lip balm gets stuck to the cap. Otherwise, the overall packaging is pretty cute.

Price: 165 INR for 3.5g

Pros:

  • Lips feel softer and smoother
  • Gives a shiny and glossy look
  • Easy to carry and attractive to look
  • The scent is really amazing

Cons:

  • Doesn’t last  for 8 hours, reapplication after 3 hours needed
  • Packaging with lip balm popping out causes lip balm to stick on the cap

Will I buy it again:  Hell yes! I will at least buy the pink shock and would like to try the other shades too!

ThatElegantChic Verdict: 4.5/5
